Microsoft Word Files Messed Up On Mac

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 three different times, and ran a virus scan that came up clean. I can't think of anything else it could be, but I'd really like to get this sorted out as I'm a student and Microsoft Word is pretty essential. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
